Fitzpatrick’s Greengrocer shop on Camden Street had a reputation punching way above its’ weight and size for high-quality, fresh produce and unique items. In fact, many people would say that it was way ahead of its time!
Frank Fitzpatrick Senior moved to Dublin from Cavan and worked in Peter’s Pub as a barman for a few years. In 1949, he proudly opened the doors of his very own greengrocer’s shop and very quickly he built up a reputation amongst the people of Dublin for selling exquisitely fresh produce and the high-quality customer service at the shop. A generous man who always put his loyal customers first, he would thank people for their support of his business by throwing in the odd exotic fresh fruit or vegetable that he had introduced into the shop.
After Frank’s untimely passing, his children never forgot the high standards that he set for the shop on Camden Street and over the years, they have incorporated them into their own businesses.
From an early age, each one of the Fitzpatrick children helped out on the shop floor. On weekends and during the school holidays, the children of the Fitzpatrick clan filled their days packing potatoes, venturing out to Dublin’s fruit and vegetable market, and even helping customers home with their fresh goods and groceries. Our founders Sharon and Paula received perhaps the most important training of their lives’ in Fitzpatrick’s Greengrocers on Camden Street and after all these years, the Fitzpatrick sisters are incorporating traditions from their past into the work that they do today.
Each year, in the lead-up to Christmas I was responsible for sourcing Christmas gifts for all of our employees and our clients. I have always disliked the idea of giving people vouchers as gifts and I made it my business to try and find presents for people that were meaningful, sentimental, and that lasted.
My aim was to give people something that reminded them of our enormous appreciation we had for them and their contribution towards our business.
